The name of Puerto de Acajutla comes from the Harbor of Acajutla in the estate of Sonsonate, El Salvador.
Acajutlas name comes from Acaxual, ” Place where the giant red sprouts are abundant”. The native population used to live from hunting, fishing.
With time Acajutla has changed and modernized its look and it has become the principal maritime harbor of El Salvador. Located at 84 kilometers to the occident of the capital city.
